Australia Day in Parramatta is one of the largest Australia Day celebrations in NSW and offers a unique experience which showcases and celebrates all there is to love about Australia and its people through food, live music, a broad range of fun activities for people of all ages and finally, for all cultures to come together to celebrate what it is to be Australian.

Roving Entertainment

Get a glimpse of our Australia Day roving performers who will be wandering about the Park at Australia Day in Parramatta. Take a selfie with them, strike a pose and #ausdayparra!

Face Painting, 10am - 2pm

Face painting will be available at the Kid's Crescent, so make sure you get your animal face painting done in time to join the Parade of Creatures at 2pm!

Don't feel like packing a large picnic hamper? Don't despair!

Our Australia Day celebrations offer a diverse selection of food with a range of BBQ stalls, food trucks and beverage vendors located across the Park to keep the whole family satisfied. Kid-friendly options are also available.

Explore one of Australia’s oldest colonial sitesThe Dairy at Parramatta Park

Experience a fascinating glimpse into the history of the Dairy Cottage Precinct in Parramatta Park during the Australia Day in Parramatta event between 9am - 4pm (tours are run hourly).

Get a sneak peak into the fascinating history of the sunken dairy via a guided tour led by City of Parramatta’s Host & Guides including interpretive and artefacts displays.

Built in 1796, the precinct provided milk, butter and cheese to the colony’s first governors.

Location: Between Byrnes and Long Avenue at the northern end of Parramatta Park

Old Government House Open Day

The National Trust of Australia NSW warmly opens the doors to UNESCO World Heritage Listed Old Government House to offer visitors an insight into Australia's oldest public building.

Visitors can enjoy a ground-floor tour of the House set in the time of Governor Macquarie, followed by a sausage sizzle  and a cold drink, kindly provided by the Friends of Old Government House. 

Open by gold coin donation from 10am to 4pm.
